“In the passing away of Professor John Sprent, the world has lost one of the most outstanding Parasitologists we have ever had. He was an icon in Parasitology and his contributions to the discipline immensely great. Over a period of 5 decades-working in Australia he transformed Parasitology globally to a level of Scientific Excellence unpreceded in in the history Medical and Veterinery Science. I have had the privilage of knowing John for over 4 decades after meeting him for the first time in 1962 at the UNESCO organised meeting on Parasitology in Singapore. Since then we have kept fully in touch and the last I met up with him was about a year ago in his house in Brisbane when we talked about our mutual colleagues and friends whom we knew over the past 50 years. His absence will be missed by many of us who knew him as an Eminent Scholer and Visionery, at Parasitology Meetings but most importantly as a kind and loving human being of multiple talents.”
Professor Emiritus Dato Dr. C.P.Ramachandran FASc.,
